DropMagic is a legitimate Shopify app that builds a store draft (copy, images, sections, branding) from a product link; you can build on the free plan but publishing to Shopify needs the Pro plan at 79 USD a month. On the Shopify App Store it shows 4.9 stars from 45 reviews. That is a small sample, and the app is a one-shot builder, not a tool for improving conversion later. Your total monthly cost is Pro plus a Shopify plan plus any other apps.
What it costs
| Plan | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 | One store, AI product import; the Shopify listing states the free plan cannot publish |
| Pro | 79 USD a month | Unlimited stores, 30 AI image credits a month, monthly section updates, bundling app, .store domain per store, branding removal, priority support |
Source: dropmagic.ai and its Shopify App Store listing, checked 29 Sept 2026. The site’s page did not state a refund policy, and the independent review below says sources conflict on it: confirm with support before paying.
All-in cost: Pro on top of a Shopify plan. Shopify Basic is 39 USD a month on monthly billing in a third-party USD guide (29 Sept 2026; Shopify’s own page showed us euro prices, Basic 28 EUR). Together that is about 118 USD a month (79 + 39) before other apps, card fees, products or ads; the full arithmetic for a small store is in what Shopify really costs, and the gateway fee layer in Shopify fees. If you need one store draft only, you could take Pro for a month and cancel, but the pages we read do not say what happens to published pages after you cancel: ask support first.
What the Shopify listing reviews say
The listing’s review page showed 45 reviews on 29 Sept 2026: 43 five-star, one two-star and one one-star. Praise is for the design of the generated stores, the time saved, and fast support replies. The one low-star review we read objected to the price, calling about 70 euros a month too much. So the evidence is: strong satisfaction from a small pool, with price as the only named complaint. Listing reviews are self-selected, and a 45-review base does not tell you about failure rates.
What an independent review found
Ecommerce-Platforms.com published an independent review, which says it analysed user reports and verified specifications on the App Store. Its conclusions, in our words: the tool does generate branded stores quickly; it is a one-shot builder rather than an ongoing growth tool; editing control is limited; the generated copy often needs cleaning up; it has no post-launch tools such as ad creative or review mining; and Pro is needed to publish. It cites 200 or more reviews while the listing we read shows 45, so we cannot reconcile the two counts.
Vendor claims and vendor-hosted comparisons
dropmagic.ai claims 1,500 or more sellers and a 4.9 rating; these are the vendor’s own figures. The site also hosts comparison articles about rival builders, which are written by DropMagic and should be read as marketing.
DropMagic alternatives
DropMagic’s free plan cannot publish, so 79 USD a month is the real entry price. Page builders cost less to start, but you assemble the pages yourself:
| Alternative | Free plan | Entry paid plan | Trade-off against DropMagic |
|---|---|---|---|
| GemPages | 1 published page | Build 23 USD a month shown, regular 29 (pricing, 29 Sept 2026) | Templates and an editor, not a generated store; funnels on higher plans |
| PageFly | 1 published slot | Builder 24 USD a month (listing, 28 Sept 2026) | Same: you build each page |
| Zipify Pages | None, 14-day trial | Starter 19 USD a month (pricing, 29 Sept 2026) | Built for ad landing pages |
| SellShop | None, 14-day trial | 49.97 USD a month plus 2% per sale (sellshop.ai, 29 Sept 2026) | Hosts the whole store, so no Shopify plan; per-sale fee |
First-year app cost on monthly billing: 948 USD for DropMagic against 228 to 288 USD for the paid page builder plans above (our arithmetic). The full comparison, including Shogun and when to keep DropMagic, is in DropMagic alternatives.
Who it fits
- Dropshippers who want a branded first draft of a store from a product link, fast, and will rewrite the copy.
- Not for stores that need deep customisation, or where money is tight: a Shopify theme plus a page builder may do the same job cheaper. The page builder comparison shows free-tier options, and GemPages has a free plan listed in our app cost data.
A generated store does not fix weak product or traffic. If a launched store gets visitors and no orders, use the diagnostic order before paying for another design.
Common questions
Is DropMagic legit?
The evidence we found says yes: a Shopify App Store listing with 45 reviews, a named developer, consistent published pricing, and an independent review calling it legitimate. Legit is not the same as a good fit for your store.
Can I publish with the free plan?
No, per the Shopify listing.
Is there a free alternative to DropMagic?
GemPages and PageFly each have a free plan that publishes one page to a Shopify store. Neither generates a full store from a product link; see DropMagic alternatives.
Does DropMagic replace Shopify?
No. It is a Shopify app that builds pages in your Shopify store, so you pay for a Shopify plan as well (about 118 USD a month together, as worked out above).
