How we research
Prices, fees and limits come from the vendor's own pages or Shopify App Store listings, are dated, and each page's update log says what was re-checked and when. We do not run benchmark tests or give scores.
Source hierarchy
For a price, fee or limit we use sources in this order:
- The vendor's pricing page and terms, read with its billing toggle.
- The Shopify App Store listing for app pricing, with the listing's own review count where we quote it.
- Official documentation, help centres, changelogs and government sources, such as Shopify help, payment-provider docs and customs rules.
- Independent studies and named reviewers, such as published research on cart abandonment, cited by name and link.
Where a vendor's page and its App Store listing disagree, the page says so and shows both. A third-party figure is always labelled as third-party.
What our evidence labels mean
- Researched: desk research from official documentation, pricing pages and independent sources.
- Compiled data: figures gathered into a table, each with a source link and check date.
- Our arithmetic: a total, break-even or sample size we worked out. The inputs and formula are shown so you can redo it.
How prices and specs are checked and dated
Each price shows its plan, billing period (monthly or yearly), currency and the date we read it. Shopify and other vendors often show yearly-billing prices next to monthly ones, so we label which is which. Where a vendor page geolocates to another country, we say which currency we read and, where we could, give the US figure beside it. Every review and guide carries a published date, its sources and when they were checked; we re-verify pricing against official sources when we update.
What we do not do
We do not run our own benchmark tests of store software, and we do not assign scores. Pages compare what vendors publish and what independent sources have measured. Where a break-even or cost example is ours, the assumptions are stated on the page.
How pages are checked
Every fact is checked against its cited source, and each page gets a separate review pass before it is published. The corrections log lists what those reviews and readers have caught.
