Printify is free to use and charges you per order only when a product sells; the paid Premium plan is $39 a month ($24.99 a month billed yearly) and pays for itself once you send roughly 4 to 23 orders a month, depending on order cost and the discount you actually get (table below). It connects your store to a network of independent print providers, so the quality you get depends on the provider you pick for each product.
Best for: sellers who want a wide catalog and are willing to sample and stick with one provider per product. Not ideal for: sellers who want identical quality regardless of who prints the order; Printful makes its own products and the Printful vs Printify comparison sets out what could and could not be compared.
What the plans are
From Printify’s pricing page and its Shopify App Store listing, checked 29 Sept 2026:
| Plan | Price | Stores | What the page says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5 | Unlimited designs, product creator, manual order creation, 24/7 support; no product discount |
| Premium | $39 a month, or $24.99 a month billed yearly ($299.88 a year) | 10 | “Up to 33% discount on new products” and “up to 20% discount on all products”, plus order management and AI mockups |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Extra discounts, API integration, account manager |
The listing rating was 4.7 from 4,329 reviews and describes over 1,300 products. Printify’s pricing page says the platform earns from margins on fulfilment; product and shipping costs are charged when an order is placed and vary by provider and product. Those base prices sit behind a login, so this page does not list any.
When does Premium pay for itself?
The two discount figures on the pricing page differ (20 percent on all products, up to 33 percent on new ones), and the page does not say which items get which. So the table shows both. Rule: break-even orders per month = plan price divided by (order product cost x discount), rounded up. Product cost per order is yours to look up in the Printify editor; the three values below are examples, and $8.77 is the fulfilment cost in Printify’s own pricing-page example (a tee sold at $19.99, product not named).
Assumption: the discount applies to the product cost, not shipping. If your figure includes shipping, break-even comes slightly later.
| Product cost per order | Saving at 20% | Saving at 33% | Orders to cover $39 (20% / 33%) | Orders to cover $24.99 yearly rate (20% / 33%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $8.77 | $1.75 | $2.89 | 23 / 14 | 15 / 9 |
| $15.00 | $3.00 | $4.95 | 13 / 8 | 9 / 6 |
| $25.00 | $5.00 | $8.25 | 8 / 5 | 5 / 4 |
Worked line: $15 x 20% = $3.00 saved per order; $39 / $3.00 = 13 orders. $15 x 33% = $4.95; $39 / $4.95 = 7.88, so 8 orders.
If you sell fewer orders than the number shown, Free is cheaper. Above it, Premium saves money every month; for the same reason the yearly rate only helps if you will still be selling in month 12.
Provider quality: the real cost variable
Printify is a marketplace, so your experience is your experience with one provider. The practical routine: order a sample from the provider you choose before listing, then select that provider for later orders instead of letting the platform auto-pick. This is our advice, not a Printify claim, and we did not measure quality between providers. For store setup see the print-on-demand setup guide; for the rest of the app bill use the Shopify app cost calculator.

- Free plan with no monthly fee; product and shipping billed only on a sale
- Listing shows 1,300+ products and a choice of providers

Cons
- Base prices are behind a login, so you must check them in the editor
- The two discount figures on the pricing page are not reconciled on it
- Quality depends on the provider chosen
Common questions
Is Printify free?
Yes: the Free plan costs $0 and, per the listing, product and shipping are billed only when a product sells.
Is Premium worth $39 a month?
Only above the break-even orders in the table for your own product costs. Below that, Free is cheaper.
Is Printify cheaper than Printful?
We could not confirm a like-for-like price difference because Printify’s base prices need an account; see the comparison for what was and was not retrievable.
Method: researched from Printify’s pricing page and Shopify App Store listing, checked 29 Sept 2026. Break-even figures are our arithmetic from the stated plan prices and discount rates using example order costs.
